Celebration of new Bonsai Pot Exhibition

NBF News   /

Some 250 invited guests attended the June 12 opening reception for “The Third National Juried Bonsai Pot Exhibition,” on view at the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum at the U.S. National Arboretum through Aug. 2. The exhibit is sponsored by the National Bonsai Foundation and the U.S. National Arboretum with generous support from the Kennett Collection and Bonsai Shinsei New York.

Many guests came directly from the 2015 American Bonsai Society Learning Seminar, “Capitol Collections: Collecting in the 21st Century” in Ellicott City, Maryland. The seminar was co-sponsored by the Potomac Bonsai Association.  At the exhibition opening, National Bonsai Foundation President Felix Laughlin told the gathering, “This is your national bonsai museum.” He encouraged guests to become members of the National Bonsai Foundation, which provides financial support to the Museum and is currently raising funds to renovate the Museum’s Japanese pavilion, in time for the Museum’s 40th anniversary in 2016.  The event also honored the winners of the juried pot exhibition and made tribute to the late Yuji Yoshimura, who was inducted into the Museum’s National Bonsai Hall of Fame.

this is a story about a pot exhibition, and there are only 2 pictures that actually show any of the pots? How about a list of the artists who were involved? How about shots of the winning pots?

      Hi Bob,

We will have a Gallery List up on our website later this week. It will have photos of all of the pots and it will give you the names of the artists.

Thank you for your interest in the Exhibition.

      Johann
