In the work shop with Head curator Jack Sustic! Here he explains to me how this Japanese Black Pine Tree (Pinus Thunbergii) could be improved over time. Specifically, how the positioning of wired branches is so crucial to the tree’s effectiveness as a Bonsai. To ensure that I grasped this concept we looked at several different examples in book form, and talked about why and in what ways they were successful. This Tree was a gift from George Yamaguchi in the year 1990, and has been in training since 1955.
