Stone Work

Recently I assisted Head Curator Jack Sustic and Assistant Curator Michael James in naturalizing a stone slab that is set to replace one in the collection that has not stood the test of time very well. Originally, this new slab had a lot of rigid, harsh angles, and displayed a rather aggressive demeanor. We used an angle grinder to put a few softer curves in it, and then used a hammer to naturalize and undo the straight cuts of the grinder. We are still fine tuning the slab and making minor adjustments as needed. Hopefully I can have an image up for next week. (What a nice change of pace it was to mix things up and work so physically!)
