This large Zelkova Serrata was having a difficult time in its pot. It had lost a lot of its vigor and was not growing all that well. To remedy this, it has been temporarily put into the ground to give the roots more room to grow and recover from being stressed. After a couple of years when the roots are healthy and strong again, it will be put back into a pot. At this point, we are not too concerned with styling, as it is basically in recovery mode. A very light pruning of the silhouette is needed, but other than that, we want to let this tree do its thing until it is back to normal.
